Make the requested action specific

You booked a quiet room for a student podcast interview. Your confirmation now shows a room beside a building site. Write to the room coordinator: explain why quiet matters, describe the mismatch, and request a suitable solution.

Allow seven minutes.

Read the email to improve

Hello, I booked a room for podcast but this room is not good. There is building work and it make noise. We need quiet because people must hear us. Can you change it? I do not know another room. It is important for our course. Please answer soon. Alex

The next change

States the problem but leaves the requested change vague. Ask for a quieter room or offer a practical alternative; an exact booking date is not supplied by the task.

Read the stronger email and feedback

Dear Room Coordinator, I am writing about my room booking for Thursday afternoon. Two students will be recording an interview for our course podcast, so we need a space without persistent background noise. The confirmation lists Room 12, although I requested a quiet recording room. Since Room 12 faces the current building work, I am concerned that the microphones will pick up the machinery. Could you move the booking to a room on the other side of the building? We can start an hour later if that would make a quieter room available. Please let me know which option is possible before we invite our guest. Thank you for your help, Alex

Purpose

Explains the recording need, identifies Room 12 and offers a feasible alternative time.

Conventions

A polite request and a clear closing suit a coordinator.

Range

Uses a reason clause, a conditional offer and precise words such as persistent and microphones.

Accuracy

Tense and agreement are controlled; the concern and request are easy to follow.

Develop one interview answer

A researcher is asking about study spaces.

Describe a place where you usually study and explain why you choose it.

Answer for up to 45 seconds.

Compare a model response

I usually study at a small desk near the back of our local library. I choose it because it is quiet without feeling completely isolated. At home, I tend to interrupt myself to do small chores, whereas the library gives me a clearer boundary between studying and relaxing. The desk also has enough space for both my laptop and a notebook. It is not perfect because I sometimes have to leave when the library closes, but for a focused afternoon session it works well. Having a regular place helps me begin working more quickly.

How it develops the answer

Names a specific place, explains distraction and space, and adds a relevant limitation.
